The purpose of this study is to investigate the social titles, kinship terms as well as nicknames in 424 condolence letters collected from different areas in Tabriz, Iran. This paper reports a descriptive-analytical study. Findings indicate that there are many differences between using kinship terms and social titles as far as the gender of individuals are concerned. According to the findings, the frequency of social titles in the group of men (2781) is much higher than the frequency in that of women (328), which emphasizes the importance of the social roles attached to men in the genre under study. On the other hand, the number of kinship titles for women is higher, both in terms of type (51 cases) and in terms of frequency (1599), which in fact compensates for the limitation of titles and social titles for women. Regarding the reference to job titles such as "doctor" and "engineer", the frequency of job titles is higher in men corpus عنوان، خویش‌واژه و لقب آن دسته از نام‌های الحاقی هستند که به اختیار در کنار نام فرد درج می‌شوند و در اغلب موارد به‌منظور ادای احترام و نشان‌دادن منزلت اجتماعی فرد و همچنین بازنمایی پیوندهای خویشاوندی به کار می‌روند. هدف مطالعۀ حاضر بررسی عنوان اجتماعی، خویش‌واژه‌ها و لقب در ۴۲۴ اعلامیۀ ترحیم کاغذی گردآوری شده از مناطق مختلف سطح شهر تبریز است. تحقیق حاضر مطالعه‌ای توصیفی - تحلیلی است و داده‌های پژوهش به‌صورت میدانی گردآوری شده است. یافته‌های تحقیق حاکی از تفاوت فراوانی عنوان‌ها و القاب اجتماعی و خویشاوندی در دو گروه زنان و مردان است. بر اساس یافته‌ها فراوانی عنوان یا لقب اجتماعی در گروه مردان (۲۷۸۱) بسیار بیشتر از فراوانی در گروه زنان (۳۲۸) است که بر اهمیت نقش اجتماعی مردان در ژانر مورد مطالعه تأکید می کند. از سوی دیگر تعداد عنوان‌های خویشاوندی برای گروه زنان، هم از نظر نوع (۵۱ مورد) و هم از منظر بسامد (۱۵۹۹) بیشتر است که در واقع جبران کنندۀ محدودیت عنوان‌ها و القاب اجتماعی برای زنان به شمار میآید. در خصوص اشاره به عنوان‌های شغلی نظیر «دکتر» و «مهندس» نیز فراوانی به‌کارگیری در گروه مردان بیش از زنان است. https://sociolinguistics.journals.pnu.ac.ir/article_10556_149b9e285813cd689574fe2ba9717ffe.pdf
