The purpose of the present research was to outline the basics of active bilingual lexicography by identifying and analyzing the challenges that may be faced by a translator on the way of translation from Persian into English. The source of data collection was Shahr-e Khabar website. Sentences in ten fields of political, sports, economic, employment, technology, art, medicine, events, tourism and cultural news were analyzed in the period of March 21st to May 21st, 2023. In total, the words of one hundred sentences (ten sentences from each field) were translated separately. 231 translation challenges were identified and analyzed, which were classified in seven categories. The basis for translation of the words was the Aryanpur's Progressive Persian-English Dictionary, One-volume (Aryanpour Kashani, 2010). The findings of the research showed that in Persian into English translation, the most problems are firstly related to grammatical collocations with a frequency of 44% and secondly related to light verbs with a frequency of 22%. Challenges related to lexical collocations, cultural terms, genitive markers, phrases and idiomatic expressions were ranked third to seventh. The results of the present study can be used as a criterion for active bilingual lexicography in Persian.

Translation, as a complex process, extends beyond the mere transfer of words from one language to another. It involves conveying meanings, concepts, and the cultural and psychological nuances embedded in the source text. This becomes especially critical in translating specialized texts, particularly in the intricate field of psychoanalysis. Given its multilayered nature and specialized terminology, psychoanalysis demands that translators possess a deep understanding of philosophical, psychological, and linguistic concepts. This study aims to examine the concept of equivalence, laying the groundwork for analyzing key challenges in translating psychoanalytic texts. In its practical section, it adopts a descriptive approach, referring to the translation of certain concepts in Sigmund Freud’s works, known for their complex semantic dimensions. The study seeks to answer how translators can balance scientific accuracy, cultural transfer, and comprehensibility in psychoanalytic translation. The hypothesis suggests that a successful translation in this domain requires a hybrid approach, integrating linguistic precision with a deep understanding of conceptual and cultural contexts. By doing so, translators can effectively bridge the gap between the source and target languages, ensuring that the intricate ideas of psychoanalysis remain accessible and meaningful to the target audience.

Rap music is one of the current discourses in Iran, which entered Iran in the late 70s and established a new culture. One of the characteristics of this music is the special words used in its lyrics. It seems that rappers are trying to create their own language by combining foreign words and Persian secret language to establish their own identity in the society. The purpose of this study is to identify the processes of word formation in this type of songs in order to know the intellectual atmosphere of this culture. In this study, 20 Persian rap songs were used to extract the desired dates. These samples include all four generations of Iranian rap music. After analyzing the dates, the most important processes of word formation in this type of language were: coinage, extension, borrowing, reduplication, abbreviation, compounding, acronym.Keywords: rap songs, the processes of word formation, borrowing, extension

The close relationship between language and culture leads to their mutual influence on each other. Many researchers in the field of language teaching consider culture alongside the target language as a primary focus. This study aims to answer questions such as which cultural components presented in the Common European Framework of Reference are and which are prioritized by teachers in the field of teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers, and ultimately to compile a list of cultural components. The research is based on the most common cultural assumptions in language teaching. Data collection is done both library-based and field-based. Twenty teachers responded to the questionnaires. The analysis of the questionnaires was done based on the frequency of the most votes for the components, and the results were aligned with the cultural content of the Framework. The research was conducted using a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative). The results show Iranian civilization and history have the highest frequency, while negative traits and challenges have the lowest frequency. Ultimately, by removing and adding proposed components by teachers, we reached 33 components and 99 sub-components that can be classified into7 categories. The results are considered important in revising language teaching materials.

The present study is an attempt to draw a dialect boundary between the Banehi and Mukriyani dialects, which was carried out using library resources and collecting data through questionnaires distributed among 80 speakers . The characteristics include the conversion of the voiceless pharyngeal [ħ] to the voiced pharyngeal [ʔ], the conversion of the short-closed anterior vowel [i] to the long vowel [i:], the deletion of the alveolar [d] and its replacement with the semivowel [y], the conversion of the vowel [i] to the open vowel [æ], the conversion of the initial syllable [yu] to [we], the change of the semivowel [y] to the vowel [e], the change of the vowel [u] to the semivowel [w], the conversion of the initial syllable [ʔʊs] to [wæs], the insertion of the inflectional affix [-ə] into the nominal ending and the correspondence of the personal pronoun and numerals with Standard Kurdish. The studies revealed that the villages near the city of Baneh speak the Banehi dialect, but the language variety of the more distant villages can be considered a combination of Banehi and Mukriyani. The speakers of the villages adjacent to Sardasht also speak Mukriyani, therefore, the Mukriyani - Banehi dialect boundary was determined.

The purpose of the study is applied and the method is survey. The statistical population of the study includes teachers and students of English language schools. To conduct this study, four groups were selected as samples; adolescent learners (up to 18 years old), adult learners (over 18 years old), teachers and managers of educational institutions and institutions.The results of data analysis indicate that most teachers confirmed the lack of attention in educational books to spiritual and religious issues and evaluated this lack of attention as much higher than average. Also, the unequal view of different cultures and civilizations of the world in educational books is one of the things they criticize. The results also show that religious and religious topics do not create much interest among students for education, but topics related to the way of life in the West and topics that show the difference between life in Iran and the West are among the topics of interest to students. This study qualitatively analyzes the usernames of Persian-speaking Instagram users to identify linguistic patterns and identity-related themes. Using the thematic analysis method 200 usernames were randomly collected from active users in Iran and the diaspora. The data were analyzed through a six-phase process: familiarization, initial coding, theme generation, theme review, final definition, and reporting. The findings indicated five primary themes: "personal names," "linguistic creativity," "cultural representation," "professional identity," and "humor and creativity." These themes illustrate the interplay between tradition and modernity in users' digital identities. Personal names show continuity of identity, often modified with numbers or suffixes for uniqueness. Linguistic creativity, evident through code-switching and playful spelling, highlights innovation and multicultural adaptation, particularly among diaspora users. Cultural representation references Iranian heritage, connecting users to their collective roots while integrating global elements such as English terms. Professional identity reflects strategic self-presentation for networking, and humor conveys playful self-expression. Overall, usernames are more than identifiers; they reflect individual and collective identities and highlight social and cultural transformations. The study emphasizes the need for further research into digital onomastics to better understand Persian-speaking users’ identities in a global context.
